East Meets West features works by composers representing China, Japan, Korea, and the Philippines, including Hyo-Won Woo and Saunder Choi. The centerpiece of the program is The Tipping Point by 2021 Composer in Residence Reena Esmail. Written for chorus, soprano and baritone soloists, and tabla, the piece was commissioned by the Desert Chorale and premiered at its 2021 Summer Festival. Eric Phinney joins on tabla (sponsored by Ms. Sara J. McKenzie).
